Unit 3 evaluation, Josh Zeiler.

Media National Unit 3 level 2 Evaluation.

In unit 3 my strengths were creativity and planning out ideas. My creativity helped me to film different clips and piece them together to form a short trailer.
Filming was also one of my strengths because I had used them many times before filming the short trailer. Planning was often challenging at times because we would have to discuss everything together and make sure that we were all ok with it e.g. Time to start filming, name of short trailer, equipment etc.
One of my weaknesses was editing each clip that went into the short trailer. This is because i did not know how to edit the certain parts of the clips that i needed to edit e.g. colour correction and adding background music.

Working as a team was one of my strengths because I could have help from the other team members and I could help them.
My one problem with teamwork was that not everybody would agree with what each other would say.
Another weakness was working independently. I struggled with this because I wouldn't always know what to do and I would have nobody to help me.
Review of short trailer:
The name of the short trailer is Zombles (NOT ZOMBIES!).
The short trailer lasts about 40 seconds which includes the text and the poster shown at the end of it. The trailer shows a mixture of horror and gore with the slightest tint of comedy. It shows some of the action packed scenes e.g. Jake getting chased, me punching the camera, Jacob’s throat getting ripped out etc. These scenes make the trailer seem very interesting and extremely eye-catching. The colour correction and other editing makes the scenes look polished and well done and less scruffy. This makes the trailer more appealing to the audience who are viewing it.
The filming techniques that we used where body shots, close up shots of legs and medium shots of body’s and pan zooms etc.
For the planning we made sure that everyone knew what time to arrive for the filming and we made sure that we all had each others contacts (facebook, phone numbers etc).
The reason why we needed to get each others contact was because we needed to inform each other about changes in plans e.g.change in arrival times, change in filming times and what dates to film.
We also helped each other with planning the trailer. This includes writing down ideas and plans on paper and/or computer e.g. Equipment list, location, list of team members etc. For editing we used colour correction. This makes sure that there are no mixed up colours in the each and every clip in the trailer which makes it look more professional and a lot less scruffy and amateurish.
I found it very easy to sort out each clip and put them in order and colour correct them. To colour correct the trailer I clicked on effects, video filters and colour correction.

A good technique that we used for filming was fake blood. We did this by filling a transparent bag with red food colouring mixed with flour and water. We made it look like the blood was squirting out of Jacobs neck by getting Kieren to secretly pop the bag on Jacobs neck.
Tattered clothes were also a good effect because it made the actors look like they were really part of the video. The clothes were covered in blood and heavily creased to make the characters look like they have been through a hard time. Once again the fake blood was made with red food colouring, flour and water.

Legal and ethical requirements:
For our team we kept to the privacy policy by not exposing each others phone numbers and Email accounts.
We used a track from linkin park which was useful because it worked well with the atmosphere of the  trailer but if this was a trailer for a real motion picture trailer, we would have to seek permission from Linkin Park (the band).
In the trailer we represented Grinshill because that is where we chose to film the short trailer and to plan some of the trailer. We represented a fictional event that is common is books and films. We represented it by portraying different characters in the trailer which are often shown in movies, books and games.

Jake morgan-jones Evaluation

Media Nationals Unit 3 level 2 Evaluation

In unit 3 my strengths were creativity and making ideas i was useful at this and came up with a lot of good thoughts it was my idea to choose wh
at we chose which was a movie trailer and it was good as it was different and new from the things everyone else was doing which were music videos and magazine covers, i helped the teams with ideas and creative thoughts and got all the little tasks done, i discussed all thoughts with the rest of my team and took notice of the different ideas my team members came up with we also made sure everyone was ok with the ideas and what we’re doing , independently i really focused better and did get most of my work done to a good level and i tried a lot harder i think i can achieve good ideas and thoughts in a group but i can work a lot more focused independently. My weaknesses would be concentration as i find it difficult to keep focus when i am with other people as i like to socialize and getting the work done in time i sometimes have problems dealing with these things as sometimes it takes me time to figure that i'm struggling or i just don't ask for help, i also find that when i am next to someone i have a large urge to start a conversation and sometimes lose track of time, concentration was the main thing that was a problem for the team in my opinion.
My product was a short movie trailer called zombles not  zombies the name was changed due to creativity and originality, trailers runtime is about 40 minutes which has text effects videos and a poster and intro and outro with age rating and warnings. The trailer includes horror, gore and spoof and comedy at its smallest an example of the gore would be when jacob gets his throat ripped open an example of horror would be when jake is chased by a zombie and comedy is taken from the cheesey and spoofy bits of the trailer, scenes like this make it a lot more eye-catching as they reveal a lot and draw people in. The effects that have been added such as colour correction and others make the trailer look professional and look smooth oppose to rough and untidy making it look more appealing and entertaining and eye-catching for the audience to watch. The filming techniques used were body shots, pan zooms, close ups etc.
Planning was difficult as it was hard to find when everyone was free and what date we would be available and getting in contact with everyone, we transgressed this problem as we contacted each other on facebook by mobile and skype as it is almost insured that everyone was on one of these things so we could arranged equipment and dates so it was a lot more easier than relying on one form of contact, we brought items such as make-up, fake blood, props and a camera and bipod, these were the items that each person was informed to bring if possible, and what role they were so they could practice and prepare. We all assisted each other in the planning so that we all had an idea of what is going on and so that people can use their own ideas and we could get the best pinal piece we could achieve. We made sure that all the colours were corrected so that it looked professional and not scruffy and untidy, it was quite easy to achieve this and perform this task. good props and techniques we used fake blood which was a mix of food colouring and some flour and water, this was performed by placing it next to jacobs neck as kieran squeezed it until it popped and it looks as if jacobs neck was ripped open. Another technique that was used in the filming of the movie trailer was the use of tattered clothes covered in blood to give a realistic look to the actors and the movie trailer, the blood was always supplied buy a tub of red food colouring, flour and water. The legal and ethical requirements: For our team and actors we made an oath of silence and privacy by not exposing each other contact details or names. In the making of the trailer we used a copyrighted song that was linkin park because it fitted the theme but if this was done in reality we would have to get copyright permission. In our trailer we represented Grinshill as it was used in the making of our trailer, we also represented comics, books and films and the zombie and horror genre.
